Is it worth the money? Why?
Yes: If you are stuck at the airport for an extended period, it’s a good opportunity to go to the outdoor terrace and get some fresh air (PS: smoking is allowed there).
No: Tallinn Airport is small and peaceful, and waiting near the gates is comfortable enough, with sufficient food places and toilets close to the gates.
Don't know: Since I haven’t seen the selection of hot food, it’s hard to say whether there are enough options for all “diet restrictions” for 45 euros.
Pros:
Quiet, good acoustics, and atmosphere
Clean
Plenty of space
Outdoor terrace (at least in summer?)
Good coffee and many options (espresso, latte, cappuccino, etc.)
Alcohol included, self-service
Gluten-free options
Nice view from the window
Power outlets
Great Wi-Fi
Flight information board and boarding notifications
Food choices labeled in English
Cold salad bar and sandwiches – diverse selection
Cons:
Vegan milk isn’t always available (once there was only lactose-free milk, another time almond milk)
Allergens aren’t marked precisely everywhere
Shared toilet for men/women, few stalls
The location is a bit far from the more distant gates (including the non-Schengen area), but compared to other airports, the distance can still be covered in 10-15 minutes
Gallery:
Photos taken in August and June 2024.
Terrace:
Very pleasant in summer
Is it open at all in winter?
My emotions:
During my last two visits to Tallinn Airport, I had relatively little time to visit the lounge, but both times were pleasant and helped make a long travel day more comfortable. Through my Revolut Ultra account, I already had “free” access to the lounge, so I decided to spend an hour in the lounge's quiet atmosphere instead of waiting at the gate.
Both times, I started my trip very early, and when leaving home around 4-5 AM, my only thought was to arrive at the airport on time. Once through security and having confirmed the gate location, it was the perfect time to have a morning coffee and visit the toilet before the flight without standing in line. The first time, I went to the lounge hoping they would offer plant-based milk for coffee so I wouldn’t have to buy it for 5 euros from a café, even though Tallinn Airport cafés are very high quality and worth their price. The first time, almond milk was available; the second time, I had to settle for lactose-free milk (perhaps they could have found plant-based milk somewhere if I had asked), but at the same time, the selection of fresh food was more attractive the second time.
The first time, I didn’t even notice it because I’m not personally a visitor to smoking areas, but the second time, while choosing coffee and juice, I noticed an open door and a sign for the terrace. Having coffee on the terrace in the middle of summer early in the morning isn’t something you’d expect from any airport, but this option is available at the LHV lounge. Since there are usually few people in lounges, no smoker sat next to my coffee cup, but it’s likely that several people could comfortably fit into that area.
In addition, I liked the lounge's quiet acoustics and peaceful aura. Tallinn Airport is generally very quiet and cozy, but the lounge feels more like a small hotel than an airport. Of course, the lounge is very clean and tastefully decorated.
I would visit the lounge again for the coffee, food, fresh air on the terrace, clean toilets, and the peace and quiet.
